Samsung combines its new mobile memory chip of 3GB of RAM, 32GB flash in a single package

Samsung has started producing vastly what’s being called the industry’s first ePoP, By combining two key smartphone elements into a single package, Samsung’s solution promises to offer handset makers about 40 percent extra space.

They have been offering a similar single-package solution for some wearable devices for some time now. Wearable Memory, includes DRAM, a controller and NAND flash on a single chip that can also be stacked on top of an application processor.
Korean tech giant’s ePoP for smartphones combines a 32GB eMMC (embedded multi-media card) and a controller into a single package, a 3GB LPDDR3 DRAM module. The 3GB LPDDR3 mobile DRAM operates at an I/O data transfer rate of 1,866MB/sec and supports a 64-bit I/O bandwidth.
And most importantly this package can be stacked directly on top of the mobile processor without taking up any additional space and the package is heat resistant.
It’s a good improvement over existing two-package eMCP memory solutions that could afford manufacturers the freedom to install larger battery packs or further help to reduce device thickness.

Samsung also said that it will expand its ePoP lineup over incoming years, to include packages with enhanced performance and density.

One-atom-thick silicene transistor build by Researchers at University of Texas

Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin’s Cockrell School of Engineering have managed to create a transistor using silicon, the silicon version of graphene that’s just one atom thick.
Silicene is a volatile material that disintegrates when it reacts with oxygen in the air. The research team built a sheet of it on a thin silver surface. It was then capped with aluminum oxide and by gently scraping away some of the aluminum, they were able to create source and drain contacts resulting in a field effect transistor.
Hopes were high as electrons flowed through the silicene but the end results were a bit disappointing. Scientists and researchers had predicted that electrons would flow through the material much like they do with graphene but that simply wasn’t the case.
Instead, they observed electron mobility that was about 10 times less than expected. It’s unclear just yet if this is directly related to the silicene itself or perhaps a fault with their production technique.
There’s still plenty of research that needs to take place before determining if silicene could overthrown graphene. Even still, it’s a pretty significant milestone. Assistant professor Deji Akinwande said the major breakthrough here is the efficient low-temperature manufacturing and fabrication of silicene devices for the first time.

Hack at Anthem, Nation’s second largest Insurance Company.80 Million records compromised.

Anthem (formerly known as WellPoint) The nation’s second largest health insurance provider has fallen victim to a cyber attack.Anthem said as many as 80 million personal records may have been compromised as a result of a security breach as reported by a newspaper.

The statement released on the company’s website shows that attackers obtained personal information from current and former members including names, birthdays, medical IDs, social security numbers, street addresses, e-mail addresses, employment information and income data.

On the plus point, Anthem said there is no evidence that credit or debit card, bank account or medical information was targeted or compromised in the attack. The company said it will be contacting members and former members affected by the breach and will also provide credit monitoring and identity protection services free of charge.

The Journal points out that companies dealing in health care have up to 60 days after the discovery of an attack involving personally identifiable information to report it to consumers and regulators. Anthem’s decision to go public with the matter much sooner than that could signal a changing attitude when it comes to disclosure.

The company Anthem is still gathering all the facts and working with authorities but this could go down as one of the larger data breaches in recent memory and quite possibly the largest involving a health care company.

PlayStation 4 still leading the console market, Xbox One catching up

The new bunch of sales data of gaming console of current generation is in, and as expected, the PlayStation 4 still leads the Xbox One in global shipments. However, Microsoft Xbox One is expected to catch it up.

Life time sales data shows that the PS4 firmly in the lead with 20 million shipments worldwide. The Xbox One follows with between 11 and 13 million shipments, and the Wii U in third place with 9.3 million shipments despite launching a year earlier.

While Sony has shipped roughly 66% more current-gen consoles than Microsoft in total, the Xbox One is catching up in recent quarters. Between October and December 2014, the critical holiday period, Sony shipped 6.4 million PS4s to Microsoft's 4.5-5.5 million Xbox Ones. Through this time period, the PS4 had a much narrower lead of around 30%.

Increased shipments and sales for Microsoft's console line up pretty well with decisions to cut its price. The Xbox One's price temporarily decreased to $349 through the 2014 holiday season, and again in January in an ongoing promotion. The previous price of the entry-level Xbox One SKU was identical to the current price of the PlayStation 4, at $399.

Sony has no plans to drop the price of their console to match the Xbox One, insisting that their $50 more expensive console is still the preferred choice of buyers and gamers. And they'd generally be right: the PS4 commands around 47% of the current-gen console market, with the Xbox One on around 31% and the Wii U trailing with a 22% share.

Well back to the topic,, writers have totally disappointed the viewers or at-least many of them,at mid-season finale episode the vampire diaries were focused on Bonnie Bennett "the witch in the so-called hell" but after the break which was so much boring with-out vampire diaries, the writers have totally forsaken our bonnie.. oh cm' on we miss here :/ plus you might have noticed now a days in vampire diaries everyone vanishes and appears so many times ... like they are focusing on something and whooosh and then some new character or plot twist happens and they completely forget previous plot/subject for particular time.Come on writers we want our vampire diaries back.
